Objective: To learn how to change the colors of a sprite and control actions with the keyboard.

Tutorial Part 1: Change Color
Scratch Activity: Reproduce the actions in the tutorial. Experiment with the size and direction of the steps.

Tutorial Part 2: Pressing Keys
Scratch Activity: Reproduce the actions in the tutorial. Experiment with other keys of the keyboard.

Extensions:

Experiment with different rates of changing the color.
Experiment with two sprites and see how they change colors.
Experiment with different keys to control how a sprite changes colors.
Experiment adding sounds when you change colors.

Tutorial Part 1: Changing Color

Drag a change color effect block from the Looks menu into the script area
Click on the block to rotate through the colors one by one
Change the number to make the color darker or lighter

Tutorial Part 2: Pressing Keys

Drag when space key pressed block from the control menu into the script area
Drag it on top of the change color block to connect them
Click the green flag to start the game
Now every time you press the space key, the sprite will change to a different color.
Note that you can click on the down arrow next to the word space to see a drop-down menu to select a different key
