Robert B. Reich
Robert B. Reich is Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has served in three national administrations, most recently as Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton. Mr. Reich has authored eleven books on economics and the changing nature of work, including "The Work of Nations," which has been translated into 22 languages. He is a consultant to many businesses and governments. Accenture recently named him among the three most influential business thinkers in the world, and his weekly commentaries on public radio's "Marketplace" are heard by nearly five million people. Reich has been a member of the faculties of Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government and of Brandeis University. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, his M.A. from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

We are seeking an experienced technology leader to join our senior management team. The CTO will report directly to the CEO and will spearhead our technology vision and product direction, and will have responsibility for all of the Company's software releases, technology maintenance, and research and development. The CTO will play a critical role in the execution of the Company's product roadmap and product direction and will help define the overall business direction and strategy. The individual we seek is an experienced leader with a track record of building internet based technology solutions against aggressive deadlines in an entrepreneurial environment. Ideal candidates include current CTOs and VPs of Engineering or Technology at internet-focused companies and senior Directors of Engineering or Technology at larger companies that grew a successful consumer business. Experience hiring and growing a team as well as developing new products from the ground up are a must have.

Responsibilities:

* Focus on scalability and extensibility of hardware, software, maintenance and development processes
* Manage the development and QA organization
* Oversee all aspects of platform development including: architecture, software development, integration, systems testing, interoperability, and rollout to a production environment
* Manage the team to complete current development plan required for customer & internal acceptance
* Coordinate with marketing, product management, and sales teams for defining product vision and planning product rollouts
* Maintain, grow and create new partnerships with major software and hardware companies

Qualifications:

* Demonstrated ability to introduce new products to market with a high degree of customer satisfaction
* Experience hiring, motivating and managing a high caliber software and infrastructure team
* Comfort working with a small, dedicated development team (10-20 developers) and as needed making direct contributions to project management and development
* Successful track record of managing and driving through completion product releases on time and on budget
* Experience communicating and reconciling needs of internal and external constituents (senior management, sales, support, customers, shareholders)
* Strong interpersonal skills, desire to mentor others, and overall company leadership
* Strong foundation in various software development methodologies and experience choosing methodology to align with company goals and culture
* Disciplined software design approach and dedicated work ethic
* Experience planning and managing consumer service scalability issues, including hosting, load balancing, database partitioning
* Computer Science degree; advanced degree preferred
* Minimum 10 years of technology leadership experience
* Experience helping grow a successful large-scale consumer web service is a huge plus
